Best Exercises to Build Strength

We often get the request by clients to help them build back or up their strength due to injury, illness, or simple neglect of being active. While there are various techniques to help in this regard, once again from our point of view simple tried and true exercises are the best approach to this common problem. Here are our favorite recommended exercises (ranked).

1. Conventional Deadlift

With a deadlift, you’re challenging your true strength by lifting as much weight as possible off the floor. It is ultimate test of total body strength.

2. Deep Barbell Squat

This is a variation of the regular squat in which rather than squatting till your thighs are parallel with the floor, you squat down as low as you possibly can letting your glutes and hamstrings get more into the exercise.

3. Farmer's Walk

Use as much weight as you can carry for a distance like 50 feet, and then increase the weight each session

4. Wood Chop / Sledgehammer Hit

Techniques vary for effect, but swing an axe or sledgehammer like life depended on it in forceful up and down motion.
